Director Biography - Jacob Lenard

Jacob Lenard is a young but lifelong animator and director with autism hailing from Buffalo, NY. His humorous, off-beat and sometimes surreal short films have not only been screened at multiple film festivals, but have also generated a following of 43K+ on his YouTube Channel. Jacob’s work is created, animated, and scored mostly by himself, with the help of close colleagues and industry professionals.

As a graduate of Exceptional Minds, Jacob has freelanced for the last half-dozen years in the EM Animation Studio. There he worked in various roles as a writer, designer, animator and editor on paid projects for such clients as Sesame Workshop, Mitsubishi Electric and Cartoon Network.

He currently resides in Los Angeles, California, where he continues to make his own celebrated animated shorts and internet series.

Director Statement

Having made a series of shorts with an underwater duo named Pike and Frilligan, I wanted to feature these charming characters in a true classic cartoon -- in both format (including a character-driven premise with a surprise ending) and story (that literally being “a fish out of water.”)
