“Pierre de Coubertin – The Paris 2024 Exhibition” is a short documentary celebrating the legacy of Baron Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympic Games. Set during the Paris 2024 Olympics, the film explores Coubertin’s vision of sport as a unifying force for peace. With narration and reflections from his descendant, and President of the Family Association, Alexandra de Navacelle de Coubertin, it highlights his deep ties to Paris and the impact of the war on his ideals.

Inspired by ancient Greece, Coubertin revived the Olympics in 1896 to promote international understanding through athletic competition. The exhibition, located in his childhood neighborhood, features rare Olympic artifacts—including the original rings symbolizing global unity.

This short film also showcases the work of the Pierre de Coubertin Family Association in preserving his mission and supporting athletes worldwide. As the Olympic flame returned to Paris, the short documentary honors Coubertin’s enduring belief in the power of sport to build a more peaceful world.

Director Biography - Margriet de Schutter

Margriet de Schutter is an international media personality from the Netherlands and a former elite ice skater. Following her sports career, she transitioned into media as a motivational speaker, reporter, anchor, interviewer, author, filmmaker, emcee, and sports journalist. De Schutter earned a B.S. in International Communication from Hanze University, with a minor in Conflict Management and a focus on Media and Journalism. She won the Screenplay Award at the Northern Film Festival in 2010, which led to the documentary "Diepgaan voor Vancouver" (Going Deep for Vancouver), awarded at the FICTS Film Festival in Milan in 2012.

She has worked with platforms like Schaatsen.nl and speaks internationally on mental health, resilience, and goal setting. De Schutter founded Extopsporter.nl, a platform for life after elite sports, and authored Stoppen & Doorgaan. In 2021, she co-authored "The Secret Balance of Champions – Health Challenges in Elite Sport" with leading medical experts.
