Phasmophobia

Arthur, the psychic who is afraid of ghosts, and his assistant Nina, meet a ghost named John while driving on the country road at night. Arthur and Nina's job is to expel the inexorable spirits in the world, but in trying to liberate John, they find that John has lost his previous memories, which makes their work more difficult. At the same time, John also discovered a huge secret. Nina, Arthur's assistant, is also a ghost.
Arthur is shocked by this fact, but he can't understand why Nina looked alive in his eyes, and Nina can explain it either. In the end, they decide to solve John's problem first. Through Arthur's efforts and Nina's reasoning, they know the truth. John killed his family because of his mistake and committed suicide because of an enormous sense of guilt. At the end of the story, to seek salvation from the dead family, John decides to leave this world and goes to the dead’s world to find his family. Arthur and Nina drive away together and finish the next job while also trying to solve their own problems.

Director Statement

In my childhood, I often couldn't fall asleep because of reading ghost stories or watching ghost movies. This also caused me to still not like watching horror pictures, which would cause me physical discomfort. But I often think about where does our fear of ghosts come from? Because ghosts are also humans, why do we have such a strong sense of dread for them?
Later I concluded that we fear ghosts because we cannot communicate with them. Just as we fear the darkness, our fear of ghosts also comes from the unknown. So I want to explore such a story. If someone can understand spirits, will this kind of fear still exist?
I believe that people will not disappear entirely after death because our existence does not only come from the body but also from all our memories. Memory is our soul and the foundation of our existence. Therefore, I believe that solid memories will make people unable to leave after death, and these such tangible and different memories are stories that I think are attractive.
