Santiago García Vargas is a Colombian filmmaker driven by stories that question integrity, choice, and human nature. He believes cinema is a mirror that confronts us with who we really are when no one is watching. With a background in directing and post-production, his work blends visual precision with emotional depth. Perjury, his latest short film, reflects his fascination with moral tension and the silent moments where decisions define us.
Perjury was born from a simple yet unsettling question: what happens the moment someone stops listening to their conscience?
I wanted to explore the quiet corruption that doesn’t come with violence or greed, but with silence — the kind that hides behind a signature, a nod, or a moment of doubt.
Through Moisés, a young lawyer facing his first moral dilemma, I aimed to portray the fragility of conviction in a world where success often demands surrender. His mother’s voice, distant yet present, represents that fading echo of truth we all try to silence when fear or ambition take over.
This film is not about villains or heroes; it’s about choices. And how sometimes, the worst betrayals happen when we betray ourselves.
