Perfectly Unusual Roommates
Perfectly Unusual Roommates is a short film about coexistence on the boundary between reality and fiction. Beneath the playful portrait of a household lies a shift in perspective that reverses the roles of host and guest, human and animal. What at first appears to be a cozy game gradually turns into a question: where does intimacy end and strangeness begin? The generated images reveal more than a surreal whim—they expose the tension that arises when shared living becomes a mirror of our notions of humanity. The film invites viewers into a space where it is never clear who is truly sharing a home with whom.

Bára Kopačková is a young visual creator working with graphic design, film, and generative tools. Her practice merges playful experimentation with a personal perspective on ethics, sustainability, and the relationships between people and their environments.
Perfectly Unusual Roommates is an AI-generated short film about a woman who shares her home with animal companions in what she describes as a symbiotic household. The film oscillates between harmony and absurdity, gradually revealing that the boundary between intimacy and strangeness is never fixed.
To bring this vision to life, I worked with tools such as MidJourney and KlingAI to create a retro-styled interview format, where each new scene becomes an unexpected twist. For me, working with AI is not only a way to visualize ideas that would otherwise be nearly impossible to produce, but also a process that sharpens my concepts through an ongoing dialogue with the machine. The film reflects both my fascination with shared life and my unease with today’s culture of constant self-disclosure, where intimacy is often surrendered to visibility.
