Peggy In My Dreams

Living far away from her ailing mother Berenice is frustrated and grieving. Despite the support of her boyfriend, Toby, she feels hollow. Seeking solace, she turns to the memory of a ghost that she met years before, the ghost of Peggy Guggenheim. Even as she researches Peggy she feels that their connection is getting weaker. Her home life begins to spiral with a small fire in the kitchen, and an ensuing argument with Toby. Fleeing from the intense emotions Berenice finds herself in a forest populated by spirits, and is visited once again by the ghost of Peggy.

Director Statement

“Peggy In My Dreams” is a quilt of my memories, scraps sewn together into a cohesive new whole. In 2019, while in Venice, I encountered the ghost of Peggy Guggenheim. Years later, my mom was diagnosed with ALS. Those two events are seemingly disparate, however when looking into the life of Peggy I found that her daughter died tragically and a connection bloomed in my mind. Peggy was a mother without a daughter and I am a daughter who is losing her mother. I felt that this connection in reverse needed to be explored, expanded upon. Peggy In My Dreams is an intimate portrait of a young woman’s journey with death, spirit, and love. Grounded in the belief that death is simply a transformation of energy, this film addresses the internal conflict of accepting the cycles of life amidst overwhelming emotions.
