Peacewater

"Would there be peace in a village without water?" asks Busra, a 12 years old girl from a village where the water sources have dramatically descreased. The film takes us to a journey through a beautiful landscape that is doomed to lose its greenery and clean water to become another once abundant now deserted area.

Director Statement

Ecological issues have always been my main matter of interest. Like many, I had dreams about, getting a land and looking after it as good as I possibly could. I was lucky to find and buy a land in a beautiful mountain village. Everything was like a dream at first. Then I realised that the village was surrounded by irrigation tubes. That's when I realised the war of water amongst the locals. Their relationship to nature and land was very different than mine. Finally, I had the urge to make this film. My wish is to highlight the strong dilemmas in a village life shaped with a patriarchal society under the pressure of climate change.
