Moses Marks is a writer, producer, and director, best known for his film “Paper Airplane” (2024). His passion for film began at a young age while watching VHS tapes on a 14” black and white TV. He graduated from the Ngee Ann School of Film and Media in Singapore. In 2009, he edited the Singaporean film Masala Mama, which was shot on super 16mm film format. This film won several awards at various festivals and was featured in Singapore cinemas.
In 2010, Moses returned to Myanmar to join Myanmar International Television (MITV) and support program production. Since then, he has produced numerous TV shows for MITV. With his strong editing and camera skills, he led the production and post-production teams.
While television played a significant role in his career, Moses’s true love has always been films. He has written, produced, and directed several short films whenever he had the opportunity. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he moved back to Singapore in 2020. After the 2021 military coup in Myanmar changed the film and media landscape, Moses became involved in several film projects opposing the military regime, including Broken Dreams: Stories from the Myanmar Coup (2023).
In 2024, Moses wrote, produced, and directed “Paper Airplane”, a story about Naw Mi, a Karen refugee girl, and her family, who had to flee their home and seek refuge in a camp because of the brutal Myanmar Military assault on civilians.
