Born and raised on Cape Breton Island, Liam MacDonald is a 21-year-old filmmaker with skills in producing, cinematography, directing, writing and editing. He is a graduate of the NSCC Screen Arts program. Liam's focus remains on people and their relationships with the environment; captured through documentary film. This resulted in his early works being recognized internationally. Currently, Liam is planning his next documentary scheduled for late 2020 and working as a video editor for the Nova Scotia Government. In the future, Liam hopes to continue his expansion in short films, videos and advertisements.
Every March, Paddy MacDonald, my life-long neighbour back home in Inverness, Cape Breton, would have what seemed like hundreds of these recycled plastic water jugs attached to what seemed like every tree on his property beside the highway. I would later find out that Paddy was conducting his own maple syrup operation. 'Paddy’s Passion' was an important film for me to make. It was a tremendous bonding experience with my neighbours. I learned that it doesn’t matter where you are from, how old you are, or how much time you have, any passion can be followed with a little bit of creativity.
