PRISONER OF HEAVEN (TV)

Prisoner of Heaven is an eight episode limited series that dramatizes the meteoric rise and scandalous fall of Nicolo Paganini, the violin prodigy whose genius electrified Europe and whose notoriety branded him “The Devil’s Violinist.” Beginning with his defiance of his father in provincial Italy and his gift of the Guarnerius violin, the story charts Paganini’s ascent through dazzling performances, humiliations at court, and reckless behavior that culminates in arrest, accusations of rape, and a reputation that both enthralls and repels.

The second half of the series shifts to the aftermath of his death in Nice, where his son Achille and attorney Luigi Germi battle the church and state for the right to bury him. Fame, scandal, and bureaucracy collide as Paganini’s body becomes a contested relic, forcing a reckoning over art, faith, and legacy. Lyrical and gothic in tone, Prisoner of Heaven explores how brilliance liberates and imprisons, how spectacle obscures truth, and how society immortalizes genius while denying its humanity.
