Michelle Karaivanov is a writer-director whose work explores identity, womanhood, and coming of age. Raised in England by Bulgarian parents, she draws from her dual nationality and is influenced by filmmakers like Baz Luhrmann and Rose Glass. She is developing her debut feature set in Bulgaria while working at Actors Studio in Pinewood Studios to continue honing her directing skills.
PRINCESS is a modern love story in which queer couple, Elena & Zo, confront societal expectations, triggered by Elena admitting that she doesn't want children. It's my response as a Director to the multitudes of people who have asked me the same question in my 20s and I also hope it highlights the importance of honesty in a relationship in pursuit of a happier life for both people.
