This is a film that's important for me to make because it reflects elements of my experiences with compulsive behaviour. Behaviour that’s relatable to many people. By exaggerating elements of my own psyche and projecting them into these lead characters Ty and Michael I hope to create a film that discloses some ways that obsessive disorders affect people and where these disorders may stem from.
I made this film as it is a reflection of my own experiences with compulsive behaviour in reaction to traumatic events in my life. I wanted to contrast these characters in a way that humanises them and creates a likeness despite their differences. Both Ty and Michael are based on elements of my own psyche however they seem so different. I want to show how obsession is something that consumes us regardless of how light or dark it might be. I see that for many people obsessions come from the need to fill in an emptiness inside of them. Something that could stem from all sorts of psychological trauma or conditioning. I aim to display this in my film however not in a way that is preaching a specific idea. I want to make a film that merely reflects these ideas and allows the audience to make an understanding of it.
