PLEASURE HOTEL
The second honeymoon of a struggling couple turns into a nightmare when they are forced to spend a night at Pleasure Hotel, a filthy motel, crammed with frightening and menacing ghosts.
IRIS, American, and Juan, Mexican, met at University, and immediately fell in love.
10 years later things are not Ok. Iris organizes a second honeymoon to save their marriage. They check out from a fancy hotel in Palm Springs, but Juan doesn’t even have enough money to tip the valet. And still, they need to drive to the Venetian Hotel.
On their way to Vegas, they stop at a Carl’s Jr to eat, where Iris resents they don’t have the idealic life she dreamed. But then the presence of a funeral car shakes her up, and Juan assumes that it reminded her of their dead child, PAULA. She corrects him: Iris relived the horrible moment her GRANDMA died in front of her when she was little.
On the highway to Las Vegas, as a terrible storm endangers their trip, they get into an argument: Iris doesn’t want to be with Juan anymore. She feels Juan is a burden. Shocked, Juan confesses he has rejected promotions because he didn’t want his job to interfere with their marital life. And amidst the discussion, they accidentally get off the highway and Iris hits her head. A flash of Paula appears and Iris passes out. Juan desperately wakes her up thinking the worst. Thank God, she’s fine. But they need to go to a place safe.
For Juan it’s too risky to continue driving all the way to Las Vegas, so he decides to stop at PLEASURE HOTEL: a cheap, sinister motel, which looks like a whorehouse. Iris is not happy with his decision.
Once in the room, unexplainable things begin to happen. Was it a ghost? They’re not sure. They call the CONCIERGE to see if they could get another room. The Concierge says no. Iris tells her there are ghosts in the room. The Concierge confirms that PLEASURE HOTEL is famous for housing ghosts. What?! Incredously, they need to decide: Will it be safer to spend the night there or go back to the highway? They stay.
The nightmare begins.
