PYTHAGORAS OF SAMOS

Set in Magna Graecia in 495 BC, the drama Pythagoras of Samos translates into perfectly organized words and sounds, the treasure of knowledge. The pacifist character Apollonius – who ends up being murdered by the Soldier at the behest of Cylon – answers the questions posed by Pythagoras with the “Song of Peace”, while the lonely Myia – daughter of Pythagoras and loved by Apollonius – recalls the “Lullaby ”. Meanwhile, the toxic Cylon wants to join the "Pythagoreans", when the master tells him that he would never be accepted as a disciple. Hatefully, Cylon plots revenge against Pythagoras and his disciples. After Pythagoras' death, Cylon begins to have hallucinating visions of the master and the god Apollo. A gradual insanity reaches the point of catching the Soldier's attention. Cylon notices his presence and tries to grab him as if that man were his salvation. The Soldier responds with the sword, executing Cylon.

Director Statement

This film is for all the ages. It is a pacifist film where the knowledge and the music are the protagonists and the main characters. It is also a didatic film teaching the basics of music for all the people. It could also be used in class by teachers with sucess (the same that I have got with the musical-educational fable "The Cicada and the Orchestra"). It took three years of HARD work to complete, more 45 years of preparation and more than 30 people has worked on this film. I hope you enjoy it. Any comments just write to: andersenvianabr@gmail.com
