PERVIRELLA DELUXE- 1997 film remastered

A steam punk fantasy film by Josh Collins. Pervirella a drop dead gorgeous girl harbours a dark side, a sex demon with lethal powers, within her bountiful bosum. A demon only held in check by a mystic amulet with a rather loose clasp. The evil Queen Victoria sends her off on a globe trotting quest to fetch the Elixir of life from the jungles of Amazonia.

Director Biography - Alex Chandon

DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY Alex Chandon (writer, editor, director) has been filmmaking since his dad gave him a super 8 camera aged 13. His early 1990s no-budget VHS films gore films BAD KARMA and DRILLBIT became underground favourites and they led directly to his meeting with Josh Collins who was looking for a director to helm a feature film... Josh's new project, PERVIRELLA.
Its cult-success led Alex directly to CRADLE OF FILTH, the infamous metal band, who wanted him to write and direct their first music video. The mind-blowingly intense reult was banned by MTV but released on video and became huge seller.
Which gave Alex the idea of making a feature film starring the band's lead singer. And so CRADLE OF FEAR (2001) was created. A very low budget (£50k) horror anthology feature, that premiered at FRIGHTFEST 2001to great acclaim and then went on for a worldwide DVD release.
Alex's third feature film INBRED (2012) is his best received and most successful feature. A darkly funny hyper violent horror film that has become a cult favourite and streaming hit.
Josh Sinbad Collins (original story, producer, art director) has always had a passion for retro gonzo films and music and his first crazy no-budget feature was THE PERV PARLOUR (1995), which stretched the definition of cinema in every direction possible!
Josh's trademark is psychedelic set dressing, lo-fi model making, fantastic costumes and outrageously pervy storytelling. To focus on his strengths he decided to look for a writer/director for his insanely ambitious 2nd feature.... PERVIRELLA.
Josh had seen Alex's VHS gore films and hunted him down for a meeting. It was a match made in heaven for both of them and PERVIRELLA was underway. What followed was 2 years of love sweat and tears making and finishing the film.
PERVIRELLA became an underground cult hit over the years while Josh's career swerved more towards running incredible parties and festivals and designing spectacular nightclubs and restaurants, but he never lost the passion for film.
After moving from the UK to Australia, Josh has made the feature film FAGS IN THE FAST LANE (2018) earning the moniker "The Australian John Waters" and garnering new fans of sexy sleaze everywhere.
His current project WOLF CAT FEVER is now in pre-production

Director Statement

Based on an original idea by Josh Collins (the producer, art director and lead model maker) with a screenplay and direction by Alex Chandon (editor and digital effects), PERVIRELLA became a cult-movie favourite on its original VHS and DVD release in 1997. But its low budget meant that the mastering did not do the crazy production justice. It was badly rendered in standard definition with very poor sound and visuals.

Despite the flaws PERVIRELLA was well received but Josh and Alex always wanted to release a remastered version, going back to the master tapes and making a definitive HD version.

Little did they realise how difficult and time consuming the process would be. Their dream became an epic labour of love that took nearly 2000 hours over 3 years.

The film was re-edited and graded by Alex to match their original vision. He used After Effects to fine tune the image to HD quality. Each shot demanded different levels of changes. The whole sound edit and mixes had to be redone also, using modern software to clean up the original dialogue from DAT tapes. And about 100 VFX shots have been added, all made to look like what could have been achieved in 1997. Music had to be remixed and extra music was added to fill gaps in the score. Josh wrote and mixed a funky new theme tune, as well as overseeing the mastering process.

The end result of this mad 27 year collaboration by Alex and Josh is PERVIRELLA deluxe.
