PAST (Gatham)

Gatham(Past) is a Psycho-Noir drama set in a rustic backdrop. Rishi loses his memory in an accident, wakes up to see Adithi who claims to be the love of his life. They embark on a journey to find answers to questions from Rishi’s past. Unfortunately, their car stalls in the middle of nowhere and a stranger passing by offers them shelter till the car is fixed. Then things start getting weird with the host slowly unveiling his dark side. Things get progressively dark and spiral out of control with unexpected twists and turns. They realize that they are trapped in the house with a psychopath. Finally they find a way to escape and what happens next will convey that Rishi’s past is vital not just to him but someone else as well. The emotional flip in the character arcs combined with a quest to find the missing piece in the puzzle drives the narrative intensely.

Director Statement

My vision for ‘గత౦(past)’ is to present a dark and intriguing film that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. Memories may warm you up from the inside and they can also tear you apart. I’ve written the story based on “What happens if those dark memories from the past get back and start haunting people”. I’ve done my research on how does exactly memory loss works, visited few hospitals, and met with a few doctors to know the possibilities of a specific scenario I am going to showcase in the film.
This film follows a non-linear format when it comes to the screenplay. Having directed 14 short films, 4 commercials, and a web series, I am always fascinated by twisted narratives. Contorted turns thrill the audience and make them glued to the film. I like to lead the audience down the wrong paths, yet not deceive them. The film starts as a simple escape from the house situation and quickly escalates into a mind-bending psychological-noir drama. The potential in this story has given me enough room to create strong character arcs for the lead cast.
We are making this film WITH RELATIVELY NEW CAST. Yet, we are not compromising on the production values and high-quality the audience would expect. We have a great unit that goes above and beyond to deliver the finest product. I really hope that you will enjoy ‘గత౦(past)’.
