Director Statement

PARTOW – Ray of Light was created to document the inspiring humanitarian work of the Islamic Relief and Research Trust Kashmir (IRRT). For more than two decades, the Trust has supported vulnerable communities—especially orphaned children, widows, and families living in hardship.
While many stories of suffering emerge from conflict‑affected regions, I felt it was equally important to highlight stories of compassion and hope. This documentary focuses not only on challenges faced by communities in Kashmir but also on the individuals and organizations who dedicate their lives to helping others.
Through the voices of children, teachers, volunteers, and community members, the film reveals how collective compassion can transform lives. The project aims to inspire viewers to recognize the power of community support and humanitarian service.
As a filmmaker, my goal was to create a film that is both reflective and hopeful—a reminder that even small acts of kindness can illuminate lives like a ray of light.
