Director Statement

This film is not about death, it is not about life either.

It is an invitation to delve into the profound state of consciousness that arises when we question the nature of life and death and ask whether reality is but a dream and if death truly exists.

I opened up to these principles when I studied (and later experienced) the teachings of Maya (illusion of self) and Samadhi (the awakening to the absolute reality of truth) and it is my intention, with PAINT to point viewers towards their paths of liberation and possibility, if they wish to look…

As an actor, I have played many roles. The most exhausting (and restricting) is the role of “Callum Blue”.

Confined by the labels, perceptions, and characterizations of others, (but more importantly my own judgments and core beliefs about my “self”) I left my career in Hollywood to work with plant medicine in the desert. It was there that I confronted (and surrendered) the trauma and grief of separation that was the origin of my imprisoned state. It was there, also, that I wrote PAINT, a film that echoes my journey.

It is through Jane, the character in this film, and her experience of realizing that she is a character in a movie, that I invite the audience to explore their existence beyond the constraints of character and narrative. Through Jane’s journey and the power of storytelling, viewers are prompted to ponder the infinite possibilities of our collective Oneness and ascend to our highest potential…

Love, “Callum Blue”…
