Öystein Thorsen, a Norwegian Swede, has so far only directed films he also has written himself. Even tho the productions have been quite small and handy, the films have reached an audience at festivals, via distribution on DVD and VOD and one documentary was even sold to Swedish network TV4. None got rich in the process, but it was encouraging.
The feature "Behind the Scenes" (2021) got a handful of recognition at various festivals, and fueled by that experience, Öystein and his co-producer - and wife - started on the next feature: "Asker Zone" (2023), which is a sci-fi.
Öystein is more or less self-taught and has taken several roles - ranging from editing, to sound mix and VFX - in the various productions, due to a mix of control freakiness and budgetary limitations.
"Asker Zone" is currently looking for festivals and distribution.
