Director Biography - Mel Mendoza

Mel Mendoza is a Mexican filmmaker born in Houston TX. Her interest in cinema began at age 17, when she started watching more serious films and realized that making films could be fun. She studied a University Technician program in Animation, where she learned key foundations in photography and screenwriting. She also took several music courses, which have helped her compose soundtracks for independent short films.

Her first project was Directing and Writing a student short film in the form of a “fake trailer” titled No Quarter, centered on an underground casino. Since then, she has continued to develop her skills across different areas of filmmaking.

She is currently the founder of a small independent film and animation studio, where she works on screenwriting, directing, music composition, and sound design for various productions.
