Director Biography - Henry Baker

Henry Baker is an award-winning filmmaker known for his exceptional work in both commercial and experimental video production. His experimental video pieces are renowned worldwide, with some of his earliest works being permanently housed in collections at The New York Public Library and the Everson Museum. Baker's exceptional talent and dedication have earned him numerous awards, including accolades from the Houston International Film Festival, SONY/AFI and the IFTA. His work has been exhibited in various galleries and institutions. Baker's first documentary, PISS OFF X, has won numerous awards in over 40 festivals worldwide. His latest work, Pup Perfect, is a thought-provoking documentary that delves into the world of pup play and explores the headspace of those involved in this unconventional subculture. Henry continues to make waves in the film industry and is undoubtedly a filmmaker to watch.

Director Statement

As a filmmaker, I embarked on this project to shed light on a topic that often goes unspoken and is shrouded in shame and stigma. Through my own personal experiences, I discovered the transformative power of owning and embracing one's fetish. It's a journey that can be scary and daunting, but ultimately rewarding.

For years, I kept my own fetish a secret, fearing the judgment and ridicule of others. But as I began to open up about my desires and explore them openly, I found a sense of liberation and self-acceptance. It wasn't always easy - I faced negative criticism and pushback - but through that process, I grew even more confident in my identity and my right to express myself.

In making this film, my hope is to inspire others to feel empowered to explore their own fetishes and to break free from the shame and secrecy that so often surrounds them. By embracing each other's differences and supporting one another, we can create a more accepting and inclusive society. It's a journey that requires courage, but one that ultimately leads to true authenticity and self-love.
