Blake Athur (David Jamie Senft) has long had a passion for filmmaking. After attending the United States Military Academy at West Point for one and a half years, Blake decided to finally pursue filmmaking as a career. He then transferred and graduated from New York University, where he majored in Cinema Studies.
Since graduation, they have worked on several projects including "The Jim Gaffigan Show" and the Netflix documentary "Saving Capitalism." They have also been making short films on their own. Jamie decided to make a feature film, "Outed," loosely based on his own life, which is currently in post-production.
Growing up in a conservative household, my own identity has always been something that I have guarded. Exploring my own sexuality and gender identity was never something easy to express, but it was therapeutic to make a feature film that is fictional with semi auto-biographical elements.
I never wanted the story to be only a melodrama, though I admire and have been heavily influenced by melodramas. Comedic elements were essential and needed for the story. However, I did not want to hide the difficulty in being misunderstood and being an outsider when coming of age. "Outed" showcases the highs and lows of finding oneself.
