Director Statement

As a Black masculine-presenting lesbian myself, I created Our World to fill a glaring gap in representation — authentic stories about queer Black women that move beyond stereotypes and clichés. This pilot is deeply personal and rooted in the real friendships, struggles, and joys I’ve experienced and witnessed.

Through Our World, I want to showcase the rich diversity within Black queer communities, highlighting the complexity, humor, vulnerability, and resilience of masculine-presenting lesbians. The Friday night dinner table is a microcosm of these dynamics — a space where laughter and tough conversations coexist, where identity and ambition intersect.

My hope is that Our World not only entertains but also creates visibility and connection for those who rarely see themselves reflected on screen. This story is an invitation to experience genuine relationships and nuanced characters, celebrating love, friendship, and identity in a fresh, unapologetic way.

Thank you for considering this project — a piece of my world that I hope resonates with many.
