On Her Feet
Her body is buried standing up, after being stolen and hidden away. But, one day, she awakes and breaks out of darkness. Screendance that through flamenco dance evokes the figure of Eva Perón.

Érica Gigena and Soledad Bustamante are flamenco dancers, choreographers, and teachers. They were trained specifically in flamenco dance with Argentine masters, further perfecting their skills with leading figures in Spain. They established the "Karavan Space" where their Flamenco Dance School "Aula Flamenca" operates. Since 2018, they have been collaborating on artistic productions, among which "Aquellas mujeres" and the videodance "De pie" stand out.
On her feet, take the historical-political idea that Evita's body was buried standing and hidden after being kidnapped, imagining that Eva awakens and emerges from the darkness was the main motivation. A woman buried standing suggests a heroine, one who never kneels, one who does not surrender, the eternal. Eva, upon awakening from the martyrdom to which she was subjected and surfacing, leads us to breathe, to liberate oneself, transporting us to a broader socio-cultural and current conceptual meaning.
Our narrative language is flamenco. It's an expression of deep emotions that carries within it an inherent strength, a sense of honor, pride, and dignity, where in the end, there is always a catharsis, a transformation. And this Eva is constructed from the depths of flamenco.
We decided that the work would be a videodance. The incorporation of the camera in a prominent place allowed us to create the idea of confinement, placing the spectator's eye on details and textures.
