Toronto-born Costa Rican actor and filmmaker Brian Quintero is a graduate of Seneca College’s Acting for Camera and Voice program and the prestigious CBC Actors Conservatory at the Canadian Film Centre. With a diverse body of work, Brian's recent television credits include Amazon Prime's pilot NEAGLEY, Netflix's THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY, MGM+’s BILLY THE KID, and Netflix's upcoming western THE ABANDONS from Kurt Sutter (creator of Sons of Anarchy). Brian will appear in the action comedy KARATE GHOST opposite Tim Rozon.
In addition to acting, Brian Quintero is a writer and director for film and television. He wrote and directed OLDTIMERS, winner of the Silver Audience Award for Best Canadian Short at the Fantasia International Film Festival, as well as the Best Audience Award and Young Jury Award at the San Sebastián Horror & Fantasy Film Festival in Spain. He also served as showrunner and director on the comedy series THE ROPES for Bell Fibe TV1, which was nominated in seven categories at LA WebFest, including Best Comedy and Best Director.
His additional training includes the Blood in the Snow Horror Development Lab, the Toronto Latin American Film Festival (LATAFF) Filmmakers Lab, and the Warner Bros. Discovery Access Canada Showrunners Bootcamp led by Anthony Q. Farrell.
I conceived 'Oldtimers' with the idea of passing the torch from one artist to another, exploring themes of rivalry, achievement, and the pursuit of validation in the later stages of a career. Lawrence and Richard symbolize legacy and the human quest for recognition, reliving, and retelling their past glory days. Through lively dialogue and strategic deception, the film aims to entertain while prompting contemplation on universal themes like competition, aging, and recognition. The narrative engages the audience in the characters' comedic journey and shocking discoveries, further revealing the mix of loathing and admiration between them. Ultimately, 'Oldtimers' blends dark humor and reflection, highlighting that even the most formidable individuals can't escape their inevitable demise in old age.
