Oil Paint
Niamh and Clara are preparing for their Dad's funeral, but they don't share the same view of him. Will Niamh's mixed feelings about him stop her from writing a good eulogy? Thomas Vallely's film Oil Paint is a heartfelt, bittersweet, reflective story capturing the emotional complexity of grief and the simple solidarity of family in times of loss.

Thomas Vallely is a 24-year-old film and theatre director from Manchester. He has a background in serious and comedic acting, directing new musicals and Shakespeare, dramaturgy, script editing, and videography. He has a Master's degree in History from the University of Oxford, and loves to bring classics and historical stories to life.
His latest film, working title Breathe Truth (2024), starring Dominic Chianese (The Sopranos, The Godfather, Boardwalk Empire) is currently in post-production, and will be submitted to the New York Film Festival 2024.
He is currently training in MA Theatre Directing under Katie Mitchell at Royal Holloway 2023-'24. His other directing training includes Simon Hunter (Raindance, 2024), Simon Hook (FilmOxford, 2023), and Chris Honer (ActorsLab, 2017)
I trained first in the theatre but I love the subtlety and complexity of telling stories in film. Oil Paint is my first film and I’m excited to show it now to a larger audience.
