Brooke Trantor is a Filmmaker based in Los Angeles. She graduated Illinois Wesleyan University with a BFA in Acting and studied Shakespeare at The British American Drama Academy. Her true passion lies in the improv and the comedy world, where she has studied, taught, and performed at various institutions including Second City, UCB, Groundlings, and iO West. Some recent credits include HBO’s Perry Mason, NBC’s The Enemy Within, TNT’s Cocaine Cowboys Pilot, a lead in the comedy feature film “Misfits”, and acting alongside Shirley MacLaine in “The Last Word”.
Brooke’s latest film, “Oh, Baby!” (2020) won Best Film: Audience Choice Award at the esteemed 2021 Dances With Films LA, and Best Director of Broad Humor Film Festival 2023 among many other awards. “Yours are Mine” (2019) was Brooke’s official directorial debut which had a successful festival circuit procuring nominations and winning "Best Director" & "Powerful Voice" Awards. Her short film “Night Four” (2016) also toured the world in the festival circuit, premiering at the esteemed Outfest in Los Angeles. She takes pride in her versatility as a filmmaker and writer: while “Yours are Mine” is filled with heavy doses of pulling-at-the-heartstrings, her comedy series Botanical Baes was recently featured in The Los Angeles Times.
Currently Brooke is in development with her single camera comedy series “Wild Woman”, a comedy-horror feature film, a series based off “Oh, Baby!”, and will be premiering her next short film “Ashes, Ashes, We All Fall Down” on the 2024 film festival circuit.
Brooke is honored to share her stories within the independent filmmaking community and is passionate and determined to continue to lift women up in the entertainment industry. She is drawn to scripts that tend to live in the dramedy world, finding the comedy in life’s seemingly dark moments.
The entertainment industry typically tells actresses and creative females alike to hide in a drawer until the baby comes. It's 2021 and this is still a thing...come on. In "Oh, Baby!" we’re putting Jane front and center. And what if she isn’t portrayed as most pregnant women: baby fever, holding hands with her husband, opening diaper cakes? What if she is unapologetically, albeit awkwardly, looking to fulfill the deepest of human needs - one most often explored from the male perspective - before her journey into single motherhood begins?
"Oh, Baby!" is the result.
It was an absolute joy writing this piece with Kate, and it was my duty and honor to make her shine through this story (while almost eight months pregnant. For realz, for realz. In real life. Kate Morgan Chadwick is superwoman, I'm convinced). What a fun ride we go on with her, seeking this last night of hot passion before motherhood fully kicks in. With a terrific cast and crew we made it possible to shine a completely different light on a pregnant woman, exploring her personal desires and sexuality. And damn was it fun.
We hope you have a few solid chuckles watching our film. And we hope stories like this continue to portray pregnant women in all of their glory.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Brooke Trantor
Director of "Oh, Baby!"
