Martin Lisius is a Texas-based filmmaker, veteran storm chaser, and founder of StormStock (1993), a collection of weather and climate footage he captures on film, 4K and 16K video for licensed use in TV and film productions. Lisius is responsible for photographing the first-ever violent class tornado on 35mm motion picture film (1998), and the only 35mm footage of Hurricane Katrina making landfall (2005). Lisius was a nominee for 2023 Footage Person of the Year, an award given by FOCAL International for significant innovations in the creation and preservation of footage archives. He directs and produces documentaries and promos through his production company Prairie Pictures.
It was important to me that the movie poster I created be a good ambassador for the film. It had to both represent and captivate. For the poster, I selected an image by storm chaser William T. Reid showing a storm chaser filming the huge Morton, Texas tornado. She is braced against the wind and completely focused on the storm. The text was created by artist Mary Hawkins.
