Director Statement

The project originated from some black and white vintage photographs we found. There was a lady with an unsettling appearance, and as the photographs progressed, her aspect became increasingly ominous. We always felt that old photos conceal a dark background, something horrorfying. We sought to provide an explanation for that personal feeling: what are the stories behind old photographs? The use of black and white is essential. It creates a sense of temporal distance and evokes the unease associated with old photos. The unknown in those photos, for us, is represented by the use of off-screen elements. Our primary inspiration was "The Twilight Zone." We are always more afraid of what we cannot see because our imagination is more powerful.
