Director Biography - Sunny Chen

Sunny Chen was born in a small city named Nanjing in China. She moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, at the age of six with her family. She began writing at eight years old, and she hasn't stopped since. Sunny released an EP under the alias 'Sad China' in 2016 and the debut music video "Ocean Girl" this summer of 2018. She wrote, directed, and produced the short film, with Kayla Isomura (The Suitcase Project) as director of photography.

I worked with a cast and crew of 99% women of colour and queer folks. More than 20 Vancouver artists worked on this project together. We filmed at over six locations.
