OBHYESH means habit in Bengali. People try to negotiate with their everyday problems and lead their lives to the very end coping up with them. OBHYESH is set in the time of recession of West Bengal where youths are facing a tremendous problem of unemployment and the continuous trail of corruption in recruitment. The protagonist goes through nightmares during the whole night and tries to get rid of his psychological and emotional sufferings against the odds and eventually, he makes the harmony with a distant dream of peace and calmness.
OBHYESH is an amalgamation of my imagination, the society I live in and the silent echoes of my nightmares. The boy is completely forced to stay awake as the everyday bitter-sweet memories, rejections come and crowd in his head. He goes under immense pressure to sustain his livelihood, affecting the equation of relations with his father and the close ones.
The character seems to be in a strange solitude wrapped up by an invisible cage of a fake and mechanical society. The night is slow, so is the pace of the narrative. The protagonist is unable to drag the hands of the clock faster and viewers feel the captivity of an entire restless night. I wanted the spectators to feel the time, space, restlessness and boredom.
