Socrates Ulysses Packer is a Denver-based filmmaker and investigative storyteller. His work focuses on real-time documentation of legal processes, public records, and the lived experience behind institutional systems. ODYSSEY: A Story Told in Real Time marks the beginning of an ongoing documentary series exploring record integrity and transparency.
ODYSSEY: A Story Told in Real Time began as a personal process -an attempt to access and understand the official record surrounding my own case. What I encountered was not just a search for documents, but a deeper confrontation with how systems operate, how information is handled, and how clarity can become obscured.
This film is intentionally captured in real time, without hindsight or resolution. The uncertainty is part of the experience. By placing the viewer inside these moments as they unfold, I wanted to explore the tension between what is documented and what is lived.
Rather than presenting answers, this chapter raises questions: What defines the integrity of a record? Who controls access to it? And what happens when something expected to exist cannot be found?
This is not a finished story. It is a process still in motion.
