"Normal"

Created as part of the Irish Queer Archive's 2024 exhibition "50 Years of Pride and Protest: the Irish LGBTQ+ Movement", Caoimhghín Ó hEoghusa's film 'Normáilte' explores the experience of growing up queer, and links it to the growth of the LGBTQ+ movement in Ireland over the last 50 years.

Director Biography - Lukasz Simon

Lukasz Simon is a Galway based filmmaker from Poland, graduated from film college in the city. He engages in personal and intense storytelling in his work to visualise internal emotions.

He was invited to direct and edit his most recent film, “Normáilte”, by producer and creator Caoimhghín Ó hEoghusa. It was commissioned by Irish Queer Archives and recently screened at the 36th Galway Film Fleadh.

His student film, “Hooked”, screened at the Richard Harris International Film Festival and won Best Student Short award at the Shot by the Sea competition in Galway.

Aside from directing and editing, Lukasz also works as an Art Director on the Irish-language soap opera “Ros na Rún”, which is broadcast on the national Irish-language TV channel TG4.
