Carley has worked on High End TV Drama's and Films for companies such as DNA Films, Warp Films, Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Netflix, World Productions, Calamity Films, Matriarch Productions, Ascendant Fox, It's all Made Up Productions, Buccaneer Media, BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Netflix and Quaystreet Productions to name a few. As well as feature films such as Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1 & 2, Kraven the Hunter, Black Adam and Enzo Ferrari; whilst continuing to build on her aspirations in producing and writing alongside. Her love for writing, directing and developing scripts has been something she has worked her whole life to achieving and she has recently created and developed an original 6-part psychological TV drama with her agent Madeleine Cotter at WGM Atlantic Talent and Literary agent. Co-Founder of production company True Moon Pictures, she is working on a number of projects in post-production and development such as 'Stripped Down', 'Non Compos Mentis', 'Hide', 'Ne31', 'SMASHED' and 'WISH’. In addition to this Carley is producing and directing music videos and commercials with various corporate companies and record labels, building her slate and experience in directing. Carley is committed to Northern voices and hopes to champion the underrepresented working-class background in which she originates, through compelling and emotive storytelling that tackles social and political issues.
Non Compos Mentis has been produced as a co-production between SAE Studios and True Moon Pictures and created in partnership with the BBC’s, Vicky Mclure led ‘Our Dementia Choir’. True Moon is a production company set up by two of the lead producer’s Carley Armstrong and Joshua Oliver, who met on the BFI Creative Producers Talent Lab and knew they were meant to be in partnership together, forming True Moon Pictures to realise their storytelling visions. SAE Studios is a new initiative launched by the third lead producer Dez Gray and Josh Oliver to help create career opportunities and forge industry connections for students at the SAE Institute where they both are instructors.
The project’s mission is to offer a first step production house and professional mentorship scheme. The studios will create high-quality films, with Non-Compos Mentis being their debut project to promote skills and help students and alumni gain invaluable experience within the sector. Given the themes explored in the film, reaching out to the Dementia Choir felt like an organic choice and we were met with overwhelming positivity in terms collaboration. Under the guidance of current musical director at Disney’s ‘The Lion King’, Simone Manfredini the choir contributed to the soundtrack and final credits song for the piece. Additionally they have given the green light to a do a live performance over the premiere screening, which we can offer to the BFI London Film festival if we were selected.
