Experiencing Interruptions?

Nichol Doesn't Eat

This film follows the journey through the pregnancy of the titular Nichol Ng, an accomplished food entrepreneur with a history of suffering from the eating disorder (ED) Bulimia Nervosa.

As she enters her final trimester, she continues to live on one meal a day and her other children soon begin to emulate her eating patterns and adopt her perspectives.

Reflecting on the volatile state of recovery from ED and the generational impact of ED on families, this documentary highlights both the stigma and impact that the condition causes on those affected.

Director Statement

This film deals with themes of socio-psychological issues through memories, grief, love and human connections. Growing up in a modern Asian culture has shaped and inspired me to create a story that communicates with an audience through the notion of a shared vulnerability through emotional engagement with the film.

My works are influenced by various filmmakers around the world, such as Ingmar Bergman, Akira Kurosawa, Bong Joon-ho, Alfred Hitchcock, Christopher Nolan and David Fincher. I would love to explore films of various genres with the underlying theme of societal issues through my unique voice as a filmmaker.
