Reuben lives the life any 8 year old boy could dream of. But that all changes the moment he has to share this with someone new. Threatened, Reuben takes matters into his own hands to make sure that his life returns to normal. Director Biography - Holly Winter

Holly Winter is a 25 year old filmmaker (21 at the time of directing New Brother) who loves the power of story. Holly has previously worked with organisation 'Cygnet Films' on short films for Indigenous Australian youth and directed community project films in Indonesia and her home town of Adelaide, South Australia. She gravitates to stories centred around young people; her film 'New Brother' winning awards internationally, now creating workshops to teach young people how to share their own stories through film.

Director Statement

"Creating 'New Brother' was a joy! I wanted to share a message that was not only applicable to the family setting presented, but in a broader societal sense too. A family is relatable to most on some level. So I wanted to hide the bigger truth about our acceptance and empathy towards outsiders inside something simpler to grasp."
