Director Statement

When I was 11, my mom told me I couldn’t live with her anymore. I moved 800 miles away and I never lived with her again. This rejection had a huge impact on me as an artist. Then, a few years ago, something happened that made me look around and ask myself, "Is this all a joke? Is life a big joke?". I was reminded, again, that everything can change in an instant. This film is about the events that make us face ourselves and our family even when we would rather not. It's about the line between the sadness of loss and the humor we use to carry on. It's for anyone who's ever been rejected, experienced loss and had complicated family relationships.
