Maychaelson recently won the Rising Filmmaker award at Popcon Asia 2018. Maychaelson also won both Viddsee Juree Awards in 2016, with Udin Telekomsel, and the 2018 edition with his short film, Errorist of Seasons. Other festivals includes XXI Short Film Festival, San Francisco Indonesian Film Festival, Los Angeles Indonesia Film Festival, Bangkok International Film Festival, Europe on Screen, etc.
Maychaelson is also the founder of Rubamera Creative Lab, an independent production and creative lab based in Jakarta, Indonesia. With Rubamera Creative Lab, they have written and produced an independent web series on YouTube titled Neo Batavia. Neo Batavia was created to raise more awareness over tolerance, especially in a country such as Indonesia that has many people with diverse religions and backgrounds.
The lack of tolerance became real in Indonesia; and all the politics only set us apart. 'Neo Batavia' is only a miniature of what happened in Jakarta last year. We feel like we needed to speak up.
