Naya Aasman (New Skies)

Set in 2009, the story begins with the middle-class Vyas family. Manoj, a disciplined factory owner; Parvati, a devoted and deeply religious mother; Pankaj and Vinod, responsible elder sons; and Atul, the impulsive youngest who is struggling in school.

Tempted by easy money and manipulated by his friend Praveen, Atul becomes involved in the kidnapping of a five-year-old boy. The plan fails, the child dies, and Atul is sentenced to life imprisonment. Soon after, news of his suicide attempt leads to his father’s fatal heart attack. Believing Atul to be dead, the family emotionally erases him and rebuilds their lives elsewhere.

Sixteen years later, Atul is released. He returns home to a family that has moved on without him. His mother welcomes him, but fear, shame, and resentment linger. Forced to work under a different name, he faces humiliation and social rejection.

When anger pushes him toward revenge against Praveen, a moment of unexpected innocence changes him. Choosing restraint over violence, Atul decides to rebuild his life honestly. He starts tailoring from home despite opposition and setbacks.

After a near-fatal accident leaves him partially disabled, Atul opens a small tailoring shop. Through patience, hard work, and his mother’s unwavering belief, he slowly reclaims dignity.

Naya Aasman is a story of redemption, not through grand gestures, but through the quiet courage to begin again.

Writer Statement

My philosophy of life is simple; it should be celebrated every day. Small steps and small victories matter. We should not wait for a distant goal to feel fulfilled, because goals change, but our attitude toward living fully should not.

Through this film, I explore the rehabilitation of ex-inmates, not as a legal issue, but as a human one. We speak about punishment, but rarely about what happens after it ends. If someone has served their sentence, does society truly allow them to begin again? If prisons claim to reform, then society must be willing to accept that reform. Otherwise, punishment never really ends.

Through Protagonists journey, the film examines the invisible prison outside jail; judgment, memory, and stigma. At its heart, it is also a mother–son story. Mother's quiet belief becomes the foundation for rebuilding dignity.
