Writer Statement

Based on factual data and real life stories, "Natasha's Tears" is my own take on the problem of global proportions - the sex trafficking. The idea came to me back in 2007, when I was a graduate student at Chapman University. The first version of the script had Northern Mexico and Nevada - as story's locales, but later it was re-written as an Ohio based story. The problem is universal, international and these types of crimes could take place anywhere in the world. My protagonist (or victim) is Russian, but she could also be - Mexican, Chinese, Indian, or American. The victims are everywhere. Fight the sex traffickers - free the slaves!
