Director Biography - Disa Östrand

Disa Östrand is trained as an actress at the University of Stage and Music in Gothenburg and at Stockholm University School of Drama. She made her directorial debut with the short film “Dani” (2018) which competed in the Uppsala International Short Film Festival(Sweden) and was an award prize winner at Stockmotion Filmfestival 2019(Sweden). She has appeared as an actress in many Swedish film and TV productions and is currently acting in the Swedish TV series “Love & Anarchy” and "Lyckoviken". "Nima" is her second short film as a director and screenwriter.

Director Statement

I wanted to portray a dramatic but ordinary day in Nimas life, through his unbalanced relationship with Catrine. Nima's lack of options and Catrine's naive longing are both real and might make you question who is using who.
