Experiencing Interruptions?

Mysterious Barricades

What do French Rococo composer Francois Couperin and endless running side-scroller games have in common? Well, usually nothing...until now! “Mysterious Barricades”, composed in 1717, has intrigued people since it was written, giving rise to theories as to what the “barricades” were meant to be; theories from the logical through the fanciful to the downright wacky. Couperin himself never let on...as it should be; they are, after all, “mysterious”! Transported into a game, our intrepid baroque adventurer encounters barriers from many of the theories as he is thrown into an epic run.

Director Biography - Deb Ethier

I have at various times in my life been an artist, musician, writer, educator, history and vintage film buff, puppet maker and children's theatre director, finally tying them all together with stop-motion and mixed-media animation. "Rusty Bolt Theatre" and "Seat of the Pants Film Lab" are basically one-person, no-budget endeavours in which I wear all of the hats.

Couperin's "Mysterious Barricades" has always fascinated me - the piece has a chewy, profound center wrapped in a lusciously lighthearted coating.
