Director Biography - Fox Fisher

Fox Fisher (Honorary Doctorate & MA in Sequential Design & Illustration) is an award winning artist, filmmaker and human rights campaigner. After taking part in C4’s My Transsexual Summer in 2011, Fox co-created the My Genderation project, making 60+ short films, endorsed by the BBC, C4 and NHS (Choices & E-Learning). Fox is advisor to All About Trans, facilitating interactions with the mainstream media, including BBC, The Daily Mail, The Sun & The Observer, to discuss representation of trans people in media. Fox promotes trans matters appearing on ITV Good Morning Britain (with Piers Morgan), ITV This Morning, BBC Victoria Derbyshire, BBC Inside Out and Arte Europa. Fox co-created a Trans Acting course at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama with Gendered Intelligence, is a script consultant for Eastenders’ trans storylines and worked with Will Young on music video Brave Man, casting a trans lead. Fox plays Jake in Radio 4’s Tales of the City by Armistead Maupin and stars as Blake in the series As We Are. Fox is Patron for LGBT Switchboard, co-creator of Children’s book: Are You A Boy Or Are You A Girl? and proud co-creator and trustee of Trans Pride Brighton (2013-2017). In 2016, Fox created film content for TGEU (Transgender Europe), IGLYO (International LGBT Youth Organisation), Stonewall and Trans Iceland. In the realm of art, Fox has had the pleasure of speaking and screen-printing live at the Tate Modern and the V&A, merging the topics of gender and art. Fox just completed a documentary about being non-binary in the UK, titled I AM THEY. Fox 2nd book (co-created with their partner Owl): The Trans Teen Survival Guide will be released Sept 2018.

Director Statement

In a world that constantly tells us that being trans is wrong and undesirable, it's a radical act to love your own body. This film sends the message that being trans isn't something to be ashamed of, and we should all have the ability to love our bodies regardless.
