My Self Taping
What’s it really like to self-tape?
Step behind the scenes in this candid, unpolished, and occasionally painfully funny short film. My Self Taping captures the awkward pauses, the endless retakes, the vulnerability, and the absurd repetition (yes, very!) that every actor knows too well.
Equal parts frustrating and fun, this isn’t a tutorial — it’s pure entertainment. And no, it’s not about learning how to pronounce my name… but after hearing me say it a million times, you just might.

When I set out to create My Self Taping, I wanted to capture more than just the mechanics of recording a self-tape—I wanted the feeling of it. Raw. Awkward. Honest. Sometimes excruciatingly repetitive. Yet, hidden in that vulnerability lies the truth behind every actor’s screen—even when the footage doesn’t look “polished.”
This short is my unapologetic peek behind the camera, a playful but heartfelt confession that acting auditions, especially self-tapes, can be an emotional rollercoaster—equal parts laborious and liberating. I don’t teach you how to do it. Instead, I invite you to feel it: the nerves, the awkward pauses, the tiny wins, and the absurdity of saying your own name one million times until it finally sounds like you do.
Filmed in the UK and clocking in at just over three minutes, the film found its place in the documentary-experimental space—winning Silver for Best Documentary Short at the Royal Wolf Film Awards, and earning an Official Selection at the Marina Del Rey Film Festival. These moments of recognition reinforced what I already knew: that humor, honesty, and authenticity resonate more than perfection ever could.
Ultimately, My Self Taping is both a wink and a nod to every actor who’s ever stared at their screen, hit “record,” and wondered, “Is this me?” It is. It absolutely is.
