Director Biography - Mike J. McAllister

Born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, Mike J. McAllister is an award-winning screenwriter, director and animator. He has produced multiple award-winning films seen in many parts of the world. He has also produced animation and motion graphics for several clients including YouTubers, movie theaters and Twitch streamers, and is a film/TV critic at OneOfUs.Net. He resides in Austin, Texas.

Director Statement

This short originated as a segment in the Schlock Block, an annual block of programming at the Austin Horror Film Festival. The block is hosted a a cartoon character who shows up between films. But sometimes, the sketches are fake commercials. I've always been fascinated with the 1950's and how sanitized it all is. I love injecting any dark humor or horror in the Rockwellian wholesomeness of idyllic 50's Americana. So what's more antithetical to that 1950's image than Satan? The segment played so well, and I was so happy with how it came out (I studied the hell out of Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoons to get close to its aesthetic-- it was in color in its original presentation). So I decided to isolate it and send it to festivals as its own thing.
