Samantha Nelson-Philipp (aka Free; she/her) is a Los Angeles based singer/songwriter. Her debut EP “Shine” was inspired by her life’s purpose: to be a light in a dark and hurting world.
Shine was funded through Kickstarter and featured as a “Project We Love.” The five song, live music EP that she produced herself features music and production by several Grammy nominated and award winning producers.
Aside from being a rising solo artist, Samantha has spent the past 14 years making a name for herself in the music industry as a songwriter, session singer & background singer for artists like Demi Lovato, Kirk Franklin & Tori Kelly.
Samantha most recently toured the world with Kanye West and his award winning choir, Sunday Service.
She and her family live in Lake Elsinore, CA where Samantha is a leader in the community, lending her talents as a vocal coach (Ultimate Music Academy), local women’s support group founder (SSS Women’s Group) and event planner (Touch of Class Event Planning).
Aliza Pearl (she/her) is an LA-based, New Jersey-bred writer, actor, improviser, and gamemaster. As a writer, she cut her teeth with sketch comedy, writing for a cable TV sketch pilot, and Nerdist’s comedy department. She received the Best Teleplay writing award at the 2011 Urbanworld Film Festival for TV pilot “Whitehall.” (alizapearl.com/writing)
Of African-American, Puerto Rican, and Afro-Caribbean heritage, Aliza continues to hone her voice by focusing on characters with split cultural ties, through scifi, comedy and genre storytelling. Having gotten her start in musical theater, she regularly performs narrative improv with Ripley Improv, and the improvised Star Trek inspired show “The Improvised Generation”.
Aliza also works as a professional gamemaster, running games in many genres and settings like Dungeons & Dragons, Star Trek Klingons, Hellboy, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Aliza feels that gaming helps keep her story brain sharp, and makes diving into character and dialogue an easier feat.
On-screen acting credits include: Showtime's "House of Lies", "Days of Our Lives", recurring guest on BYUtv's "Show Offs!" feature films "Newly Single" "Darkness Falls" "Everything Before Us" and "Faith Based," award winning indie feature “Something is Killing Tate” (Starz), plus various short films ("Beached" with Nic Collins, "The End" with Matthew Philip Smith) and viral videos with YouTube giants WongFu Productions, Black and Sexy TV, and Comediva's popular webseries "BAMF Girls Club.” (alizapearl.com/acting)
Logline: AI Ethics genius Myeisha Brown is recruited from her safe teaching position into the messy, high profile world of AI tech, navigating life as a company’s saving grace... and biggest threat.
"My Intelligence" is a statement that we urgently need to pay attention to Black voices in the AI industry. As creatives, we know how positive representation (or lack thereof) in our own industries impacted how we have moved through our careers. We have felt both invisible and hyper visible; seen for the things people want to see in us, but rarely seen for what is deepest and truest about us.
There are alot of big questions surrounding AI and ethics, and how AI is actively replicating the biases and systemic inequalities of the humans that build and program machines that can learn. We want Myeisha and her compatriots to inspire countless women and BIPOCs, particularly Black women, to enter the AI industry and help course correct from within. Because even though we're glad the ethics of AI will provide endless stories and problems for Myeisha and her crew to tackle, we're not glad that these are real life issues that are in desperate need of attention and fixing.
