Director Statement

The film is part of an awareness campaign conducted by UNICEF and State Resource center, Chennai, to stop child marriage. Despite laws against it, the practice of child marriage is still widespread in certain areas of Tamil Nadu, a state in southern India.
Between January and July 2020, Tamil Nadu alone received 2666 distress calls to helpline to stop child marriage. The key reason being the relationship gap between the child and her parents. Either the child tries to elope in the fear that parents may get her married or the parents forcefully marry the child in the fear that she may elope with someone outside her caste.
The film has been extensively used in the villages and smaller cities of Tamil Nadu as part of training modules, designed to create awareness among school kids, parents, teachers and social workers who conduct these programs, and has produced visible change.
