Musings of a Mechatronic Mistress
Musings of a Mechatronic Mistress:
The Peculiar Purpose of Tiffany the Sexrobot
a film by Jasmin Hagendorfer
In a world where technology and humanity intertwine, Tiffany, a self-aware feminist "sex robot", embarks on an unparalleled journey of self-discovery. Conversing with the leading experts, Tiffany confronts the societal norms, body image stereotypes, and patriarchal influences that have shaped her design and aks about queerness concerning sex tech. As debates over her societal impact surge, Tiffany navigates the complexities of interdisciplinary communication, the rise of AI companions, and the vast realm of innovative sex tech. But it's the potential for a radical shift away from human-like designs, and the embrace of individualized, queer & feminist DIY solutions, that truly challenges the status quo. With every revelation, Tiffany's contemplative journey challenges our perceptions and compels us to question the boundaries of technology, desire, queerness and societal expectations.

Based in Vienna, Jasmin Hagendorfer is an acclaimed contemporary artist, filmmaker, and curator. Through diverse mediums, she delves into socio-political themes and gender identity, showcasing her works internationally. As co-founder and festival director of the Porn Film Festival Vienna, she intertwines feminist and queer theories with art and erotica. Her notable contributions include a TEDx talk in Vienna about the environmental benefits of quality pornography and films like "Fudliaks!", "Slugfest" and "Musings of a Mechatronic Mistress".
This film, as a sub-project of a larger feminist EU/Erasmus+ initiative, delves into the intersection of sex robots and women*, examining ethical guidelines for robotics. It contributes to a broader inquiry within the project, exploring the implications of technology on gender dynamics and societal norms.
At the heart of "Musings of a Mechatronic Mistress" lies a profound curiosity—a desire to delve deep into a realm where AI meets humanity and to find the often unexpected intersections of technology and gender.
In bringing Tiffany, our captivating sex robot, to life, my aim was not just to animate a piece of technology/sex doll. It was to empower her with queer-feminist presence, allowing her to inhabit spaces traditionally associated with human experiences, feminist ideals, and the intricate tapestry of our social fabric. I wanted Tiffany to be more than her silicone mold; I wanted her to be a beacon of questions, of aspirations, and of the challenges that come with existence.
This film is not merely a statement; it is an artistic vision that beckons viewers to embark on a vibrant journey—one that is as inviting as it is thought-provoking. Through evocative vapor-wavy visuals and poignant narratives, we endeavor to draw the audience into a dialogue, urging them to explore, ponder, and redefine their understanding of life, feminism, LGBTQIA+ and the future of AI.
To everyone who joins us on this cinematic voyage: prepare for a dance of imagery, emotion, and intellect. Together, let's redefine what it means to be alive in a world constantly on the brink of innovation and as we move on in new technological spheres, it is also our time to make it more diverse and queer and feminist and approachable.
