Muppet by Yvois (Official Music Video)
This 3D-animated music video tells the story of how the ferris wheel in Berlin’s lost place ‚Spreepark‘ disappeared.
I created the music video I created in winter 2020/21 for my dear friend Ivy. I drew inspiration from one of the few cultural events we could attend together in summer 2020. Ivy and me went to an open-air screening on Insel der Jugend, an island placed next to the lost place, where we watched the documentary ‚Achterbahn‘ (2009) by director Peter Dörfler. The movie tells the story of the family Witte. The former operators and fairground people founded the amusement park ‚Spreepark’ in 1969. Although surviving German reunification their business went bankrupt in 2002 leading to a troubling story of emigration, drug traffic and jail time in Peru.
As a teenager I visited the Spreepark in 2002 during a school trip. Unforgotten memories were made in the double looping rollercoaster which I rode four times in a row and later received a much aspired kiss from a flirt. After the area was abandoned and several friends told me their adventurous stories of discovering this lost place. It is clear this area is a beloved place for old and new Berliners alike. In autumn 2020 the local news reported about the plan of the restoration of the area including the deconstruction of the ferris wheel in early 2021. Many people in Berlin will now look at the park and cityscape along the Spree river and wonder: Where has the ferris wheel gone?
The video is part of the first single release from Yvois' When We Dressed In Gold EP

Nadin Heinke is an animation filmmaker and motion designer from Berlin, Germany. She graduated as top of her class in Aug 2020 from UE Germany in the program B.A. Film and Motion Design.
After a previous academic education in the field of educational philosophy and history, she traveled and worked for some years. To pursue her passion for creative work and expression, she started studying again at the age of 30 and retrained in the field of video art and animation filmmaking. As a permanent volunteer Nadin helped organising the Berlin Feminist Film week the last 4 years, where she reviewed submissions and edited the film festivals trailer in 2019 and 2020.
After her first animated short 'Feminist Rage' ('1, 2019) got picked up by a number of international film festivals, she was encouraged to continue animation filmmaking. Nadin Heinke has previously explored the possibilities of 3D animation in other media art projects such as a music video ('Sit Tight' by Yvois, 2019), a guerrilla video projection mapping ('Nothing Like A Prayer' 2019) and experimental animation film about ecology named 'Stamina' (2020).
The musician Yvois is the electronic music producer Ivy Rossiter from New Zealand/aotearoa, permanently living in Berlin. She is also the founder of Éclat Crew, a Berlin-based Electronic Music Collective aiming to support the practice of female, trans and non-binary artists through collaboration and cooperation.

With the music video for "Muppet" by Yvois I am returning to my favourite format: music video. I love that I can make art off usual limits and support a friend's music at the same time. I really improved my 3D skills with this project. Once I had the idea to bring Berlin's lost place alive, I felt incredibly driven and knew it had to be done. It's a true passion project. Enjoy!
