Mr. Goalie
Glenn Hall, affectionately known as “Mr. Goalie,” was born in 1931 and became one of hockey’s most iconic netminders during his Hall of Fame career in the National Hockey League from 1955 to 1971. He set an extraordinary and still-unmatched record of 552 consecutive games in goal, an achievement made even more remarkable by the fact that he played without a face mask.
Hall passed away in January 2026 at the age of 94. Before his passing, he had the opportunity to watch this film and learn of its award-winning world premiere in late 2025 at the Windsor International Film Festival.
The film’s U.S. premiere took place on February 22 and 23, 2026, at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, where it was met with an enthusiastic response. A special screening hosted by the Florida Panthers at their practice facility drew 750 members of both the hockey and film communities, all gathered to celebrate the legacy of “Mr. Goalie.” The film went on to receive both the Audience Favorite Award and the President’s Award, recognizing its profound impact on the festival.
On April 11, 2026, the film returned to Hall’s home turf for its Alberta premiere at NorthWestFilmFest, held at the historic Garneau Theatre in Edmonton. There, it was shared with his family and community in a deeply meaningful tribute. The film was honored with the Audience Award for Best Feature Film and Favorite International Feature, further cementing its impact and celebrating the enduring legacy of Glenn Hall.
So far MR. GOALIE has a 100% win rate, winning 5 awards in it’s first 3 festivals.
